MEMES THAT MATTER
CONVERSATIONS THAT COUNT

was conceived as a social artwork that explores visual metaphors as a catalyst for meaningful conversations, for content beyond the politics of opinion, for creative responses. Our fortnightly meet-ups aimed to create  a  field of collective enquiry in which imagination and intellect collaborated to make sense of the world.

Each session lasted an hour and explore a socially relevant topic through the lens of a particular meme. Each meet-up consists of

n

  • Introduction to the meme

  • Conversation in small breakout groups

  • Sharing and closure

Memes that Matter was inspired by Joseph Beuys' idea of society as an artwork and its conceptual underpinnings, the transpolar politics known as social three-folding, conceived by Rudolf Steiner. It endeavoured to promote the universally human stance in times of extreme polarisation and machine intelligence.
